Europe because he might be the one causing these small conflicts.
Explain the spark that ignited WW1. Would WW1 have happened if that spark had not taken place?
The spark that ignited WW1 was the assassination of the Austrian prince Franz Ferdinand. He was assassinated by Gavrilo Princip in Sarajevo, Bosnia. After his assassination Austria declared war on Serbia, Russia declared war on Austria, Germany declared war on Russia, and France, Britain declared war on Germany WW1 was going to happen because Europe wanted it to.
Knowing that a multi-front war was dangerous, Germany developed a plan to defeat the allies. Explain the German plan for victory in WW1. Was it successful?
The German plan for victory was called the schleiffen plan. Plan was developed by German general Alfred von schleiffen. Plan was to go to west and defeat the French in 6 weeks, then go east and defeat the Russians the plan was not successful because they were not able to defeat the French at all. As a result Germany and Austria will be stuck in a multi-front war.
Explain the development of the new technology of the early 1900’s. what effect will this new technology have on WW1? How did this new military technology change the military tactics of the time?
The new technology included fighter aircraft, automatic weapons, tanks, submarines and chemical gas. The goal of this new technology was to create more death and destruction. The new technology was built for speed and mobility. WW1 will be a mismatch of mobile technology and the poor tactics of trench warfare. This will cause WW1 to be a stalemate.
Describe the U.S involvement in WW1. How intensive was the U.S war effort? Did American involvement influence the outcome of WW1?
At the beginning of WW1, the U.S was not involved. By 1915, the U.S was giving supplies to the allies. The sinking of the Lusitania caused the U.S to look for a reason to get involved in WW1. The interception of the Zimmerman note will get the U.S fully involved in WW1. The U.S will use convoy tactics to get soldiers to Europe. The U.S involvement will raise morale for the allies. The U.S involvement will be a big reason why the allies win WW1.
What were the results of the Paris peace conference and the treaty of Versailles? Were the winners and losers clearly defined? What effect will the treaty of Versailles have on future politics?
The Paris peace conference will be a battle between the idealistic goals of the U.S vs the nationalistic goals of Britain and France. The treaty of Versailles will be a source of humiliation for Germany and Austria. The clear winners of WW1 were Britain and France. The clear loser was Germany and Austria. The treaty of Versailles will be the motivation for hitler and the Nazi party. This treaty will be a major cause of WW2.
