Explain the importance of enlightenment ideas, the American revolution and the English civil war to the beginning of the French Revolution.

The enlightenment focused on the importance of education and the people having power. The American revolution will provide the motivation for the french’s 3rd estate. The French people will use the American revolution as a model for the own revolution. The English civil war proved that you can successfully challenge the king.

Explain the role of Robespierre and the committee of public safety to the French Revolution. Was the violence of the French Revolution necessary to the cause?

A

Robespierre was a jacobin. The jacobins was the radical political party of the revolution. They will create the radical phase called the reign of terror. They will use mob violence and the guillotine to eliminate any opposition. This extreme violence caused people to hate Robespierre. The violence was necessary to the revolution but got out of control.

A

The 1st and 2nd estate is the most responsible for the revolution, they had excessively taxed the 3rd estate and gave very few privileges. The revolution benefited the 3rd estate gained equality and equal privileges. The 3rd estate hated the French class system and all the injustices that it represented.

The king should’ve made the 1st and 2nd estate pay taxes. The king should’ve spent his money wiser. The king should’ve given privileges to the 3rd estate. The 1st and 2nd estate could’ve agreed to pay taxes. The 1st and 2nd estate could’ve granted privileges and given the 3rd estate properly.
