human resource management is the process of employing people, training them, compensating them, developing policies relating to them, and developing strategies to retain them

Staffing involves the entire hiring process from posting a job to negotiating a salary package.

keeping and motivating employees to stay with the organization. –> compensation is a major factor in employee retention. –> 90 percent leave because of:
- iissues around the job they are performing
- challenges wtih their manager
- poor fit with organizational culture

Training and development
new employees –> trained to do the job and develop for higher productivity.
- job skills training, suuch as how to run a partricuular computuer program
- training on cummunication
- team-building activities
- policy and legal training, such as sexuual harassment training and ethics.

be aware of all laws that affect the workplace.
