Q

What are the stages of Tuckmans (1965) theory of group development?

A

Stage 1: forming - members are generally cautious, tentative and over reliant on the group leader
Stage 2: storming - generally characterised by interpersonal conflicts (common purpose not yet established)
Stage 3: norming - there is now a renewed commitment to the goal and purpose of the group
Stage 4: performing - the structure at this point is fully functional and accepted
Stage 5: adjourning - wrapping up activities and preparing to disband
