What is the role of a Clerk of Works?
To inspect the workmanship, quality and safety of work on site and report back to the client.
How would you assess project progress?
I would conduct a site visit and compare the status of works on site with the contractors construction programme.
How would you assess project quality?
I would compare the finished works with the products detailed with the specification and the manufacturers installation requirements.
What would you do if an alternative product was suggested by a Contractor?
I would review the manufacturers information regarding both products and assess the time cost or quality implication of using the alternative product. I would also ensure that the alternative product achieves the same performance or safety standard as a minimum.
When producing a Progress Report, what information would you include?
