Describe the two types of job contracts.

A

Full-time - Employees work an average of 35 - 40 hours a week usually from 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.

Part-time - The employees hours are less than full-time, the number of days and hours will be discussed by the employee and the employer. They get the same wage and working conditions.

Describe the two types of working hours.

A

Flexitime - Employees choose when they start and finish their work, there are core hours when all employees must be at work. These are usually the busy periods, for example 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm.

Job-share - This is when two people share the same job, splitting the hours between them, for example Johnny might work Monday, Tuesday and half of Wednesday and Patrick will work the rest of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Outline the 4 types of modes of working.

A

Home working - When the employee works from home.

Teleworking - When the employee works away from the office but stays in touch with the office via email, Skype or phone.

Hot desking - If many employees work away from the office the company sets up a hot desk area where the employees use these computers for short amount of times.

Touchdown areas - A small area with wall plugs and wifi and some PCs for people who have their own laptop and don’t need to be in for long.

Describe the 2 types of career breaks.

A

Paid leave - Organisations offer you a allocated amount of days that you can take off from your work that will be paid that you can use of holidays and trips.

Unpaid leave - This is when you have to stay off of work for a day or two but you don’t have any paid leave days left so you have to stay off and not get paid for the trays you are off for.
