How did the politicians and media react to the NEW women?
Politicians and the media both criticised the women and called them immoral and urged them to marry.
However the advertising and film industry loved them hence they received public approval.

What affect did the depression have on women?
Both men and suffered unemployment due to the depression. However, women were affected less as they were cheaper to employ than men.

On 30 May 1932, Bruning passed a decree which allowed the dismissal of married women in government service if they had husbands who were working.
