Q

What do the deep temporal nerves do?

A

Innervate the temporalis muscle

Note: don’t confuse with the superficial temporal nerves (the temporal branch of the facial nerve)

11
Q

Describe the posterior division of the mandibular nerve.

A

Auriculotemporal nerve branches off
Splits into the lingual nerve and inferior alveolar nerve
Nerve to mylohyoid (+ anterior belly digastric) given off just before I.A.N
Chorda tympani joins onto lingual nerve

13
Q

Describe the chorda tympani.

A

Fibres with info about taste from anterior 2/3rds of tongue (joins onto lingual nerve)
Parasympathetic fibres that make submandibular and sublingual fibres secrete
