- frees gastrointestinal downbearing (moves stuff thru middle jiao)
- relieves pain + disquiets spirit (spec. pain caused by liver Qi stagnation, which is emotional in nature)
- frees the channel + quickens the connecting vessels
- clears + discharges lung heat
LI 4 indications
(Yuan Source / Command of Face + Mouth)
- swelling of the face, facial paralysis, parotitis, trismus (reduced ability to open mouth), toothache (bc Command of Face + Mouth)
- abdominal pain, dysentery, constipation (bc Yuan Source)
- sore throat, headache, swelling + pain of the eye, deafness
- nasal obstruction, rhinorrhea, epistaxis (nosebleed)
- pain, weakness + motor impairment of the upper limbs
- febrile diseases w anhidrosis
- infantile convulsion

- regulates the waterways (helps lung regulate fluids, bc LI 6 is a Luo Connecting Pt and Luo vessels network yin-yang channels as well as paired zang fu organs)
- frees the vessels + connecting vessels

- sore throat, deafness, tinnitus (bc Luo goes to ear + jaw)
- edema (esp. facial edema, bc helps lungs regulate fluids)
- redness of the eye
- epistaxis (nosebleed)
- aching of the hand + arm

- stops pain + benefits the throat (e.g. strep, tonsillitis)
- clears heat
- expels wind

what does the fact that LI 8, LI 9 + LI 10 are in no categories indicate about their function?
- since no category, the function is fairly local
- LI 8, LI 9 + LI 10 are good for arm pain + movement of arm issues (esp. arm rotation)
