- regulates lung qi

- asthma
- epistaxis (nosebleed)
- pain in medial aspect of arm
LU 4 functions
- regulates qi + blood
- relieves pain

- cough
- fullness in chest
- pain in medial aspect of upper arm
LU 5 functions + indications
(He Sea)
- discharges lung fire: hemoptysis, sore throat (bc water point, which sedates + cools the upper jiao)
- downbears counterflow qi: cough, asthma
- clears upper burner heat: afternoon fever, mastitis (bc water point, which sedates + cools the upper jiao)
LU 6 functions
(Xi Cleft)
- stops bleeding
- regulates lung qi (breathing)
- causes lung qi to descend (helps with acute asthma attack)
- clears heat

- hemoptysis (coughing up blood)
- cough
- asthma
- sore throat
- pain in chest
- spasmodic pain of elbow + arm
LU 7 functions + indications
(Luo / Command of Head + Neck / Confluent of Ren)
- diffuses lung + dispels cold (helps lung to move wei qi outward to exterior): cough, asthma, sore throat
- courses channels + frees connecting vessels (bc Luo connecting point): pain + weakness of wrist
- also treats headache, migraine, neck rigidity, facial paralysis, toothache
- mostly treats wind cold, but can also be used to treat wind heat
LU 8 functions
(Jing River / Horary)
- diffuses the lung + downbears qi
- courses wind + resolves the exterior
(not used much in TCM, but used a lot on 5 Elements bc it’s the Horary)

- cough
- sore throat
- asthma
- fever
- pain in chest
- pain in wrist
LU 9 functions
(Shu Stream / Yuan Source / Influential of Vessels)
- dispels wind + transforms phlegm (bc LU 9 is a Yuan Source point, it is often used with SP 3, another Yuan Source point, when phlegm accumulation in lung is due to Spleen Qi Xu)
- rectifies the lung and suppresses cough
- clears + depurates upper burner + lung qi

- pain in chest, wrist, arm

(Ying Spring)
- courses the lung + harmonizes the stomach
- disinhibits the throat (clears heat from throat)
- clears blood heat
- abates fever

- feverish sensation in the palm

- frees channel qi
- revives inversion, resuscitates
- clears lung counterflow
- disinhibits throat (good to bleed LU 11 at the onset of sore throat, along with LI 1)
- courses + discharges surging counterflow qi fire in the 12 channels
