Selling of a medicinal product is classed as wholesale dealing if sold to a person who:
- Sells or supplies to someone else
- Administers to someone else in course of business
(Money must change hands)
What guidance does the MHRA give about wholesale dealing from a pharmacy?
No need for wholesale dealer’s licence if
- Supplying to another pharmacy or healthcare practitioner
- Takes places not more than occasional basis
- Quantity supplied = small
- Supply made not for profit basis
- Not for onward wholesale distribution

- Med prepared by registrant or under supervision
- Med supplied from registered pharmacy
- Registrant acting in course of profession
- Med supplied in pursuance of RX
- Aware of error, prompt notification of error
