Describe the physical examination of hair and scalp attention to:
color, distribution, quantity, thickness, texture, lubrication, parasites
Scalp: smooth and inelastic with even coloration. Inspect for lesions, lumps, bruises, moles, dandruff or psoriasis
Describe the physical examination of skin with attention to:
Skin: color, moisture, temperature, texture, turgor, vascularity, edema, lesions, risk for impairment
Describe the physical examination of nails with attention to:
Nails: normally transparent, smooth, well rounded and convex with nail bed angle of about 160 degrees.
Inspect, palpate, shape, color angle, capillary refill time

Five common foot and nail problems:
Calluses: thickened skin
Corns: friction and pressure
Planter warts: lesions on sole of foot caused by papilloma virus
Athlete’s foot: fungal infections
Ingrown nails: nail grows inward to soft tissue, usually from improper nail trimming
