Macbeth listens anyway as he wants them to be right. They speak in riddles that are meant to be misunderstood but Macbeth ignores this out of greed, witches aren’t controlling fate but just are giving him validation.
Their words are vague and ambiguous they are only temptation not control

Tempt and control bears connotation of satanic imagery and the snake in the garden of Eden. They are female so only way females can have power, serpent used untrustworthy language to tempt Eve through twisting what god said

‘Fair and foul’

Oxymoron, confusion of the audience, builds tension, regicide seems foul but also fair, Macbeth who was fair becomes foul in the end

Witches are chaos and disorder, they reverse the order, things that shouldn’t be able to coexist occur as the witches have riddles, paradoxical phrases
