Q

Can the aircraft autoland on runway which has been cleared but the width is still less than 45 meters?

A

During periods of heavy snowfall, runways wider than 45 m may be cleared only to a width of less than 45 m symmetrically from the runway centreline. In such conditions these runways do not need to be considered as narrow runway unless limited by snowbanks. The Captain should assess conditions and determine the general suitability of continuing operations.

16
Q

Antiskid is deactivated below what speed?

A

20kts

17
Q

On slippery taxiways what might you need to use instead of nose wheel steering?

A

Differential braking and/or thrust

18
Q

Will the decel light always come on on a contaminated runway?

A

No. This doesn’t mean that the autobrake is not working.

19
Q

If there is a problem with directional control after landing on a contaminated runway runway what can you do?

A

Reverse thrust set to idle and brakes released, re-find the centreline and then re-apply.

20
Q

Define active frost

A

Active frost occurs when the aircraft surface temperature is at or below 0 degrees and at or below dew point.
