-Had a loss of Reichstag seats in the November 1932 elections and accepting the deal would make the party more popular and even more of a threat to the elite (power increase if decline continued)
Von Papen convinced Hindenburg that he could control Hitler. There would also only be 3 Nazis in the cabinet
-President had to appoint chancellor. Hindenburg hated Hitler so thus would not happen unless Hindenburg allies spoke up for Hitler
-Cost of elections and failure to win Chancellorship took its toll on the party and meant this chance had to be taken
-Nazis and the elite had things in common. Support for RW government with a strong leader
-SA violence needed to be dealt with and with Hitler as Chancellor, SA violence wouldn’t be required (NOLK)
