Define wholesale dealing
A
Selling of medicinal product to someone who sells/supplies it to someone else
- Do not take product themselves
- Not transfer of stock
- Money must change hands

What guidance does the MHRA give about wholesale dealing from a pharmacy?
A
Pharmacy don’t need wholesale dealer’s licence providing:
- Takes place not more than 1 occasional basis
- Quantity is small
- Supply made on not for profit basis
- Supply not for onward wholesale distribution

pharmacy wholesale deal medicines to?
A
- POM, Ps only to those authorised to sell/supply goods
- Health authority
- Person supplying under PGD

What are the exemptions to whole sale dealing?
A
Hospital can’t deal with another hospital in the same trust

How is wholesale dealing carried out in practice?
A
- Request written on a requisition
- No legal requirement must appear on requisition unless CD

A
No legal obligation but good practice + kept for 2 years
