antipsychotics, diabetes drugs (insulin, meglitinides, SU, thiazolidines), Divalproex/valproic acid, gabapentin, pregabalin, lithium, mirtazapine, steroids, TCAs
*hypothyroidism
drugs/conditions that can cause weight loss
ADHD drugs, bupropion, GLP-1 agonists, pramlinitide, roflumilast, SGLT2 inhibitor, topiramate
*hyperthyroidism, celiacs disease, IBD
Weight loss drugs in certain conditions
-pregnancy: avoid all
-HTN: avoid Contrave (Naloxone/Buproprion) and caution with Qysima (phentermine/topiramate)
-depression: caution in young adults and adolescents with Contrave
-seizures: avoid Contrave and caution with Qysima
-taking opioids: avoid contrave
Phentermine
sympathomimetic (stimulant)
Qysima
REMS program due to teratogenic risk
-vision problems, insomnia, tachycardia
-taper off due to risk of seizures
Contrave
-CI: pregnancy, opioids, uncontrolled HTN, seizure disorder, other buproprion-containing medications
liraglutide (Saxenda, victoza) & semaglutide (wegovy, ozempic)
pancreatitis, hypoglycemia, nausea
Orilstat (Xenical (Rx) and Alli (OTC))
take multivitamins at bedtime or separated by > 2 hours
