What is true weight loss?
Not muscle atrophy, getting sufficient calories and have palatable food
What is the main question?
Normal/increased/decreased appetite

maldigestion, malabsorption, malutilisation

poor lumen conditions (brush border etc)
bile acid deficient
Malabsorption examples
dia/vom
primary structural disease (infiltrative diseases) - IBD, GI lymphoma, bacterial overgrowth, dry FIP, parasites
Secondary metabolic disease - hepatic disease, r sided cardiac disease, hyperthyroidism
Malutilisation examples
NO dia/vom diabetes mellitus congestive heart failure dirofilariasis neoplasia hyperthyroidism liver disease / renal diseases if losing protein
