Weibliche Geschlechtsorgane - Fallopian Tubes Flashcards
What is almost always the reason of salpingitis?
Inflammations of the tube are almost always microbial in orgin
What is the most common disorder of the fallopian tubes?
Name the more uncommon disorder?
Salpingitis (most common disorder of fallopian tubes)
Less common: ectopic (tubal) pregnancy, endometriosis,
rarely primary tumors
What are the pathogen of salpingitis?
- declining incidence:
- gonorrhea
- major offenders: nongonococcal organisms
- chlamydia
- Mycoplasma hominis
- coliforms
- post partum: streprococci and staphylococci
What is the danger of nongonococcal infections?
They may penetrate the wall of the tubes - blood-borne infections: With seeding of the - meninges - joint spaces - heart valves
What are the clinical symptoms of salpingitis?
- fever
- lower abdominal pain
- lower pelvic pain
- pelvic masses -> because of the distention(Aufblähung) of the
tubes with exudate or inflammatory debris(Schutt)
Salpingitis: What may happen with the attached structures?
Adherence of the:
- inflamed tube
- to the Ovary
- and adjacent (angenzend) ligamentous tissue
—> may all result in a tuboovarian abscess
- very serious are adhesions of the tubal plicae, which are
associated with increased risk of tubal ectopic pregnancy - Damage to or obstruction of the tubal lumina may produce
permanent sterility
Name the kind of tumor of the fallopian tubes and the two subtypes!
Primary adenocarcinomas:
- serous
- endometrioid histologic type
Tumor of the fallopian tubes
Which gen mutations is associated with a tumor in the tubes?
BRCA-mutation
