Week Three: Perception, Attention, and Memory Flashcards

1
Q

16
Q

What is bottom-up processing?

A

You focus on the information coming from whatever you are trying to perceive, and you try to understand it without bringing your prior knowledge to bear on the situation.

17
Q

What is the increased saliency theory?

A

That attention is focused dependant on direct motivation or desire

18
Q

What is the phonological loop

A

A memory procedure which stores and also rehearses verbal/auditory information. “Rehearsal” is essentially just repeating things over and over in your head so that you can remember it for a little while.

19
Q

What is the visuospatial sketchpad?

A

The visuospatial sketchpad helps you store visual information and plan using visual imagery. The visuospatial sketchpad enables you to create mental maps and spatial images.
