Motivation to learn requires that
needs for relatedness, competence
and autonomy met.
TRS more important for at-risk students (boys, low-SES, LD, ethnic minority students).
What is the identification-participation model?
Students who feel like they are a part of a school community are
more likely to value school, commit to school, and actively participate; whereas students who do not feel a minimal sense of belonging are more
likely to disengage and are more likely to drop-out

the notion that a fundamental

of ‘compatibility’ between the
capacities, motivations, and style
of behaving of a child and the
expectations and demands of an

What does a pathognomonic teacher believe?
that learning problems exists in the
student; so no preferential treatment should be given and it should be the problem of a specialist
What does an interventionist teacher believe?
learning problems result from the non-optimal interaction between the students and the school environment; so teachers should try to intervene before referral, assess to know what to d better
