what can analysis be about?

thematic analysis
- narrative of whole is analyzed
- core of experience
- focusing on what is in the story rather than how it is told
structured analysis
-focuses on how the story is told
- breaking it down and analyzing its parts
- 6 elements are;
. A - abstract - summarizing the story
. O - orientation - time, place, situation
. C - compiling action - considers plot including events leading up to crisis
. E - evaluation - appraising story and meaning it holds
. R - resolution - outcome of plot
. C - coda - returning to present time
Dialogical
- focuses more on text and context
- interactive talk, gestures, mime or other elements of interaction
- social interaction, relationships and identities
- hybrid - elements of other types of analyses and combines them
PAR
Participant action research - process of inquiry conducted by and for those taking the action
seeks to understand the world by trying to change it

stages of PAR
P- Preliminary stage - all participants are involved in the proposal and part of the reasons for the project
A - assessment phase - ethical issues are clarified and anonymity ensure. aims and limitations put on table
P - planning phase- participants find innovative wats to slove problem and carry out specific tasks
I - implementation - all participants must be comfortable with theory and practice
E - evaluation - observation, intervention, written reviews are used

method of PAR where participants document their lived experience through photography, narrate photograph and guide data analysis
