Participatory Action Research (PAR)
focus on people who are on the fringes of society (homeless, refugees, have no active voice)
It aims to transform social realities
Ethnography
study of culture (more so, it is a group of people with shared values, beliefs eg. group of nurses)
it involves the researcher participating in the peoples daily lives and collecting data from observations which help to understand how the culture impacts their behaviours.
Grounded Theroy
has a particular focus on theory development
it is inductive!
UNIQUE FEATURES
- it focuses on theory development
- there is a continuous interplay between data analysis and data collection
Phenomenology
focus on the LIVED EXPERIENCE of the person
Feminist Reserach
focus on female health issues (decisions for womens health is decided upon by men, female agenda driven by mens agenda)
Discourse Analysis
aims at revealing what has been said, thought and done in relation to a specific topic or issue
Generic Qualitative Description
least theoretical! most superficial!
describes phenomena
Cast Study
investigates a phenomena within a group of people/community
