Q

what does neurogenic shock result in (4)

A
  • massive vasodilation without compensation caused by a loss of SNS vasoconstrictor tone
  • pooling of blood in blood vessels
  • tissue hypoperfusion
  • impairment of cell metabolism

Q

what are symptoms of neurogenic shock (7)

A
  • hypotension
  • bradycardia (bc uncompensated)
  • initially, warm skin (d/t dilation)
  • later, skin cool or warm depending on external temp (d/t poikilothermism)
  • dry skin
  • venous pooling
  • decreased CO

Q

what is the treatment for neurogenic shock (4)

A
  • promote spinal stability
  • treatment for hypotension –> vasopressors
  • treatment for bradycardia –> atropine
  • fluid resus

Q

describe the relationship between spinal shock and neurogenic shock

A
  • diffferent things but can occur in same pt at same time
