A
Known as the ‘Stages of Change’ model.
- Suggests that a person changes behaviour through stages, not a single step.
- Strategies for behaviour change should be based on a person’s stage and readiness.

A
- Pre-contemplation: No thoughts about change.
- Contemplation: Considering doing it in the future.
- Preparation: Making formal plans in the next month.
- Action: Actively engaged in change.
- Maintenance: Able to maintain change for at least six months.

A
A directive method for enhancing intrinsic motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence to change.

Name and define the steps of Motivational Interviewing
A
- Express Empathy: Display good listening skills through body language, reflecting back what is said.
- Develop Discrepancy: Show the person where they are now and where they could be, and the effectiveness of the change.
- Roll with Resistance: Never argue with a client and try to persuade too hard. Get them to form their own opinion.
- Support Self-efficacy: Increase self confidence in the client that change can be done by themselves.
