Name and define the steps of Motivational Interviewing

A
  1. Express Empathy: Display good listening skills through body language, reflecting back what is said.
  2. Develop Discrepancy: Show the person where they are now and where they could be, and the effectiveness of the change.
  3. Roll with Resistance: Never argue with a client and try to persuade too hard. Get them to form their own opinion.
  4. Support Self-efficacy: Increase self confidence in the client that change can be done by themselves.
