SDOH
The economic and social conditions that shape the health of individuals, communities, and jurisdictions as a whole. SDOH are about the quantity and quality of a variety of resources that society makes available to its members.

- income determines the quality of other sdoh as food security, housing.
- level of income shapes overall living conditions that affect physiological and psychological functioning
education
- a good education and culturally appropriate school environment leads to better health.
- cost is a significant barrier to continuing education after school.
- education increases overall literacy and understanding of how one can promote one’s own health through individual action.
employment and working conditions
A stressful job can contribute to other physical and psychological problems, but good workplace conditions support well-being.
Early childhood development
it is the critical stage of physical and emotional development. Fundamental in creating a healthy foundation for adult health.
housing
good housing means better health. home inadequacies may lead to increased exposures to lead, mould, poor heating.
Health literacy
The ability to access, understand, evaluate and communicate information as a way to promote, maintain and improve health in a variety of settings across the life course
- health literacy empowers clients to be informed.
