A

Competitively inhibits postsynaptic alpha-1 receptors in prostatic stromal and bladder neck tissues –> reduces sympathetic tone-induced urethral stricture causing BPH symptoms

  • Avoid w/ volume depletion
  • Caution in renal and hepatic impairment

Fluid retention, nasal congestion, blurred vision, dry mouth, constipation, impotence, urinary frequency, HA, dizziness, fatigue

Rare: priapism, allergic reactions
