Q

Topical agents used to treat herpes simplex (e.g. labialis)

A

Acyclovir, penciclovir, docosanol

17
Q

Why would the prescriber use double abx or triple abx therapy to treat impetigo?

A

Double: bacitracin + polymixin B

Triple: bacitracin + neomycin + polymixin B

Used when broader antibacterial coverage needed

18
Q

What should be prescribed if the patient has more than five lesions when associated w/ impetigo?

A

Oral abx or if no improvement with topicals after 2-3 days

  • Cephalexin, amoxicillin/clavulanate, dicloxacillin
19
Q

Oral abx options used to treat MRSA (outpatient setting)

A

Clindamycin, TMP/SMZ, doxycycline
