Whole body vibration training
“Performing exercises while standing on a vibrating platform”
-Vibrations stimulate stretch reflex, requires muscle activation fo stabilization
-Evidence: Increased % change in strength from resistance training in postmenopausal women
-Less clear in young/athletic populations
Body contouring vibration
“Applying localized vibration to activate muscles & disrupt fat”
-Vibration on muscle results in reflexive muscle activation
-Does not burn fat, unlikely to stimulate muscle growth
Ozempic
Appetite suppressant, regulates insulin levels
-Effective for weight loss in overweight/obese individuals, but weight regain will likely occur when drug is discontinued
Training to failure
Thought to elicit greater muscle activation
-Effective for hypertrophy rep ranges
Partial rep training
Effective for hypertrophy when performing long length partials
-Strength and power still favours full ROM
