- Self awareness: express their emotions through body language or vocalising immediately after they are felt. however may not show if they’ve had a bad experience
dog expect others to understand the signals they are giving
if not understood, causes confusion or reactivity
Our reaction influences their response of emotions
- Self management:
social behaviour is learnt as puppies with littermates
They learn to deal with frustration through competition for milk
We have to teach self-control through positive training and instant feedback

If brought up properly in the right environment they can be skilled in social awareness by reading, interpret and act on cues
dogs with bad experience lack social skills and need to be taught to interact a health way
Learning and development of social awareness is an ongoing skill
