A
Welcoming thoughts, feelings, memories, body-sensations, welcoming them as they are
Accepting that you can’t do anything to stop them

A
Separating (de-fusing) thoughts from reality
Should think of thoughts as objects (like a cup, pen)

Attention to the Present Moment
Helps practice acceptance, awareness, “not-trying”

A
- You are more than your experiences
- This thing happened to you but it isn’t “you”
- Recognizing this helps to put distance between you and your experiences and reduces the power of your experiences over you

A
- The defusion process functions to break you out of your rut so that you can move towards your values
- Values aren’t actions they are principles/beliefs
- You must choose values that you don’t need anyone’s help to live by

- Making behavioural changes based on your values
- The goals isn’t “feeling good” it’s acting on your values
- What would a day look like when you acted according to your values?
