Week 11 Flashcards
What is the international Classification of Functioning Framework?
The WHO framework for measuring disability and health at both an individual and population level
What is the first classification?
Body structure and Function:
Body structure: body parts e.g. legs
Body function: Things that our body parts do
What is the 2nd classification?
Activity and participation:
Activity: Completion of tasks we do
Participation: Being involved in life situations
What is the 3rd classification?
Contextual factors: Divides into personal and environment
Personal: Age, personality, education, gender,
Environment: Aspects around them
Can be positive or negative
How do parts of the ICF work together
One cant function without the other. e.g. one cant participate if they have poor economic status
What are the ethical values of SP?
- Respect and Dignity
- Responsiveness
- Quality and Safety
Professionalism and integrity
What are the Ethical Principles of SP?
- Autonomy
- Beneficence
- Non-maleficence
- Truth and Veracity
- Justice and fairness
What has the ICF been used for?
Conducting health related research, use common language for describing health related states across different users, coordination of services, systems and policies, insurance and social sectors, education, transportation and economic sectors
How can the ICF help with studies?
Enables data comparison with the same measurement tool, applicable across countries and provides a systemic data coding scheme
What areas can the ICF be used in?
Clinical practice, social security, insurance, labor, economics, advocacy, social policy,
What is the outcome of ICF in clinical areas?
improves interdisciplinary collaboration, systematic process for assessment, goal planning and intervention planning, documentation
What is the ICF code?
ICF code= Prefix+ numerical code+ ICF qualifiers
Prefix (letter and number) - Category (function, activity et) and level (specifics to the body)
Numerical code:
2nd level: specifics within the category of the category
3rd: Another category within the 2nd level category
4th: Another category
ICF code example?
S7 = Structures related to movement
S730= Structure of upper extremity
S7302= Structure of hand
S73028= Bones, joints, muscles, ligaments
What is an ICF qualifier?
Denote the severity of the problem, may mean impairment, limitation, restriction or barrier
What is the ICF qualifier categorization?
Broad ranges of percentages are provided and assessments are able to quantify the problem
.0 = No problem 0-4%
.1= Mild 5-24%
.2= Moderate 25-49%
.3 = Sever 50-95%
.4= Complete 96 - 100%
.8 = Not specified
.9 = not applicable or appropriate to apply the code
