The ways in which different forms of oppression interest and reinforce each other. Creates compound effects on groups. Impact of multiple oppressions is greater.
What is emancipatory knowing?
Actions that rise from anawarness of social injustices embedded in the systems.
Ability to see the social and politcal problems of injustice and inequity and warrent a change.
Hegemony
- Dominance of ideologies , values, and beleifs over other views
- These go often unnoticed and priviledge some groups
- Emancipatory knowing works to free from hegemotic thinking.
How can emanicpatory knowing affect our care?
It can help nurses look beyond their own personal expereince and aims to view the larger picture

- Creative Processess: Imagining: activist in nature to lead to emancipation
- Formal Expressions: action plans, analyze, create clarity and bring awarness to those injustices that hold power.
