  • NW Rebellion = took place in 1885 and lasted a few months, with the goal of gaining Métis rights
  • several battles take place, but at the Batoche battle the Métis revolutionaries were forced to surrender
  • Louis Riel was arrested, placed on trial, and charged with high treason
  • he was executed in the fall
