Describe resource frontier aging.
Younger population are leaving their areas at a faster rate than the aging population. Causes population decline in the area and an aging workforce. Creates need for more services pertaining to aging population, costly.

How has the geographic source of immigration to Canada changed over time?
Up until the 1970s, most immigrants came from Europe. Then in the 80s more central and southern American immigrants. Only recently in the 2010s do we see a large influx of African immigrants.
Describe 10 characteristics of Branch Plant development.
- Involves plants in Canada who are owned by foreign companies
- Relatively low on corporate command chain
- Remotely controlled
- Create short term booms during initial phase
- Can be closed at any time, vulnerable to closure during economic downturn
- Deficient in white collar jobs, high blue collar jobs that don’t require much training

Describe the resource bank model.
Companies assumed Canadian rural land and resources were not being used, and therefore they could profit off of them. Assumed they could withdraw without reinvesting.
What is the difference between comparative and competitive advantage?
Comparative advantage = a company producing goods at a lower cost than others
Competitive advantage = a company providing better goods at a lower cost than others

What is a hub community?
Intermediary locations close to a workers home community. Workers travel back and forth to these locations as a part of their work rotations.
