Week 1 Conduction Flashcards
Pumps blood through the body
The heart
How is conduction accomplished?
By contraction and relaxation of the cardiac muscle tissue in the myocardium layer
What is the cardiac conduction system
The electrical conduction system controls the heart rate
What does the cardiac conduction system create?
The electrical impulses and sends them throughout the heart. These impulses make the heart contract and pump.
What makes the heart contract and pump
The cardiac conduction system
Located in the bottom of the right atrium near the septum
Antioventricular anode
What is the function of the cells on the AV node
Cells in the AV NODE conduct impulses more slowly, so there is a delay as impulses travel through the node
In the heart circulation how does blood enter the right atrium?
Blood enters the right atrium via the superior and inferior vena cava and the coronary artery
After the blood enters the right atrium where does it flow next
After entering the right atrium blood flows through the tricuspid valve to the right ventricle.
After the blood flows into the right ventricle what is the next area it will travel to?
The blood then flows from the right v trickle to the pulmonary artery then to the lungs
After the blood flows to the lungs what’s happens to the blood and where does it travel to next.
After arriving in the lungs the blood becomes oxygenated and travels to the left atrium via the pulmonary veins
From the left atrium oxygenated blood flows
From the left atrium blood flows through the mitral valve to the left ventricle
Once blood is pumped into the left ventricle where does it pump to
The aorta
What is the function of the aorta?
The aorta supplies the body with oxygen
