Relate effectual calling to what we learned about depravity.
God makes the dead heart willing and able to hear the gospel and embrace Christ.
Who does the calling?
God calls. John 6 “All whom the Father gives Me will come.”
Who are effectually called?
Only the elect are called effectually.
What are the means by which we are effectually called?
The preaching of the Word enlightened by God’s Spirit
What is the work done in effectually calling?
Enlightening minds to understand the things of God.
What is the result of the effectual call?
Persuading us and enabling us to hear and receive His offer of salvation.
What are two exceptions to the need to hear the gospel?
Elect infants and the mentally incapable.
Can anyone be saved apart from hearing the gospel?
No, Rom. 10:14 How will they hear without a preacher?
