What is a blocked nasolacrimal duct?
Narrowed duct due to thickening, swelling, inflammation of the lining or nasal polyps/tumours
Who does it affect?
Seen in babies and is common in women over 40
What is the treatment for Blocked duct?
Surgery to unblock it
What is dry eyes?
When the eyes don’t produce enough tears
What are the symptoms of dry eyes?
Redness, swelling, irritation, burning, eyelids stick together, blurred vision
What causes dry eyes?
Contacts, hormonal changes, medications
What is the treatment of dry eyes?
Lubricating eye drops, anti-inflammatories, surgery to prevent premature draining of tears
What is Blepharitis?
Inflammation of the eyelid margins
What are the symptoms of blepharitis?
Itchy, sore, red eyelids, crusty, greasy eyelashes, loss of eyelashes, photophobia
What is the treatment for blepharitis?
Warm compress, cleaning eyelids to remove excess exudates
