- 70% of the human body is made up of water so it is vital to our lives. 2.Water is required for all of our body fluids such as blood, saliva, digestive juices. 3.It keeps the linings of Mucous membranes, digestive tract and bronchial tubes moist. 4. Some nutrients need water for absorption. 5.It lubricates joints and membranes. 6.Required for metabolic reactions.

What are the sources of water?

- Natural, bottled water, tap water is also safe to drink in many countries although in some areas, their nitrate level is too high in the water 2.Many foods contain water, fruit and vegetables are mainly made up of water.

What are the requirements of water?
A
Water should be drunk every day, especially when its hot as much is lost through sweating. 2 litres is the recommended daily intake of water.

A
The skin, the kidneys, the lungs and the bowel.

When should more water be required? Name four points.
A
During illness where a raised temperature increases sweating. If vomiting or diarrhoea has occurred as this can cause rapid dehydration (especially in babies). In lactation where extra liquid is required. After exercise.
