Washer-disinfector Flashcards
1.
preferred method of decontamination by HTM 0105 but under review with the possibility of protein fixing
Flush
an initial pressure rinse to remove gross solid and liquid debris- below 45c to prevent protein fixing
Wash
detergent with water to complete removal of liquid and solid debris - chemical and mechanical action of the solution for debris break down and dislodges debris
Rinse
using quality mains water or reverse osmosis to remove traces of detergent - any marking, smearing or spotting on the cleaned items indicates the water quality is inadequate
Thermal disinfection
the temp used if preset at the start and varies on the contents of the load. the chosen temp is achieved and held for the required time
Drying
heated air is pumped so that any moisture is removed – wet items allow microorganisms to recolonise their surfaces more easily
