Warning Signs of Pregnancy
A
- Sudden weight gain or loss
- Frequent dizziness or fainting
- Fever of over 100 degrees
- Sharp abdominal pain or severe cramping
- Nausea and vomiting that persists
- Vaginal bleeding or spotting
- Pain or burning with urination, a significant decrease or increase in frequency
- Persistent headache
- Blurred vision
- Persistent rash
- Persistent noticeable lower abdominal contractions or tightening
- Increased pressure lower abdominal pain or low back pain
- Swelling or puffiness of sudden onset usually in face, fingers and feet
- Rupture or leaking of bag of water, amniotic sac, prior to 37 weeks
- Decrease in fetal movement over 12 hour period
- Feeling that “something just isn’t right”

Uterine Activity vs. Preterm Labor
A
- True labor contractions are generally very low or in the back
- Tightening in upper uterus is result of stretching
- Normal uterine activity may be felt as early as 20 weeks or may not at all
- Uterine activity may be associated with pre-term labor
- Differentiation between normal uterine activity and preterm labor must be done by a care provider, normally with fetal monitoring and vaginal exam

Uterine Activity vs. Preterm Labor - If preterm labor is suspected most care providers offer these suggestions:

- Hydrate (often contractions are from dehydration) your body with minimum of six, 8 oz glasses of water in 45 min
- Empty bladder
- Count periods of activity being felt in 1 hour
- If uterine activity increases in strength, frequency, or intensity at any time or does not resolve with above suggestions, seek immediate evaluation and care

Bladder Infections
A
- Eliminate sugar
- Cotton underwear
- Rice & barley water
- Once a day 1/4 rice water with 1/4 cranberry juice
- Make rice water by boiling and simmering 1/2 cup rice with 6 cups water
