a space where organisms and their physical surrounds form an environment that is different from them nearby (e.g. tundra, taiga, grassland, desert)
What is population and what are some examples
a group of organisms belonging to the same species (e.g. population of sharks)
What is ecology and what are some examples
the study of how organisms interact with each other and with other non-living surrounds (e.g. study of wetlands)
What is a habitat and what are some examples
The place where an organism lives (e.g. river/stream, forest floor, trees)
What is a community and what are some examples
different organisms living and interacting in the same space/time (forest of trees + undergrowth of plants, inhabited by animals and rooted soil containing bacteria/fungi)
What is interdependence and what are some examples
relationships between organisms where each affects the others survival (e.g. pollination of flowers by bees)
What is are species and what are some examples
a group of organisms which an interbreed and produce fertile offspring
what is the difference between population and community?
population refers to one species whereas community refers to broader are filled in up of communities.
what is the difference between habitat and environment?
the term environment refers to the abiotic and biotic factors that organisms face whereas habitat refers to where it lives
