Q

Describe the melodic structure

A

The phrase lengths are unequal and supported by short rests. Each phrase uses the typical dotted quaver-semiquaver-quaver rhythm which is very lyrical (cantabile)

Q

Describe the second half of the movement (bar 6-12)

A

Bar 7-8 takes on the rhythm of bars 1-2, extending the dotted quaver-semiquaver-quaver idea in a 3 note descending pattern. It uses a flattened 7th in bar 7.3 and bars 11-12 includes octave leaps and gentle syncopation
