Vitamins are needed…
in small amounts for good health
Minerals are needed…
in small amounts all have essential functions
What are the functions of minerals?

-Control chemical reactions
-Keep us healthy
What is vitamin A need for?

- Needed for healthy skin, bones and teeth
Vitamin A Deficiency leads too…
Night blindness - person cannot see in dim light
Sources of Vitamin A

Vitamin C Test
DCPIP, blue to colourless
How to carry out DCPIP test

- the put the substance (e.g. Orange juice) one drop at a time
- count the number of drops needed to make the DCPIP lose its blue colour
Less drops added to DCPIP means…
there is MORE vitamin C present
Why is DCPIP dangerous?
It is TOXIC
Safety precautions while using DCPIP…
Wear goggles, wash hand IMMEDIATELY if it comes into contact with it.
What is DCPIP?
A blue dye that turns colourless in the presence of vitamin c
