Topical 5% in prodromal phase. Aborts lesions in 40% of cases. Reduces duration of lesions.
Acyclovir prescription for primary herpetic gingivostomatitis?
Only if severe. Systemic 200mg five times a day for 5 days. If over 2 years same prescription as adult.
Which HPV is associated with increased risk of OSCC?
HPV 16
Where does HSV lie dormant before recurring as cold sores?
Sensory ganglion, particularly trigeminal ganglion.
Where does varicella zoster virus lie dormant before reactivating as herpes zoster?
Cranial nerve, dorsal root, autonomic ganglion.
