Solitary ulcer Persisting more than 3 weeks Numbness Rolled margins Firm Unintended weight loss Red or speckled Bleeding on light touch Other associated lesions such as neck lump

A
Recognise abnormal mucosa
Remove possible causative agents eg sharp tooth
Clinical photography
Refer when appropriate

A
History and exam
Clinical photographs
Special investigations - bloods, radiographs, swabs
Incisional vs excision also biopsy
Review with results and manage accordingly
