A form of communication in which you use words to interchange the information with other people either in the form of speech or writing
Verbal Communication
Five Features of Verbal Communication
- Appropriateness
- Brevity
- Clarity
- Ethics
- Vividness
The language that you use should be appropriate to the environment or occasion
Appropriateness
Try to achieve this by being more direct with your words. Avoid fillers and insubstantial expressions are which do not add to the message
Brevity
It is essential for you to clearly state your message and express your ideas and feelings
Clarity
Words should be carefully chosen in consideration of the gender, roles, ethnicity, preferences, and status of the person or people you are talking to
Ethics
Words that vividly or creatively describe things or feelings usually add color and spice to communication
Vividness
Does not use words for communicating anything, but some other modes are used such as body language, facial expressions, sign language, and more

This refers to the use of time which speaks about the personality of the sender or receiver
Chronemics
This refers to the voice qualities used by the sender or receiver
Vocalics or Paralanguage
The use of touch in communication which is one way to express feelings and emotions
Haptics
The study of the body language of a person. These are use of gestures, head movements and posture, eye contact, and facial expressions in communication
Kinesics
The distance maintained by a person while communicating with others which determines the relationship between the sender and the receiver
Proxemics
Refers to the use of the appearance of a person which speaks about his/her personality
