This refers to communication that centers on one person where the speaker acts both as the sender and the receiver of the message
Intrapersonal
The process of communicating with the self. It is a conversation with the self also often described as the thinking process
Self-talk
How an individual thinks and feels about the self
Self-concept
A component of self-concept that focuses on an individual’s image or picture of his/her self. It is how an individual sees the self
Self-image
A component of self-concept that focuses on an individual’s value or worth placed on his/her self-image. It is how an individual values self-image
Self-esteem
Three Factors affecting Self-Concept
- Beliefs

- Attitudes
The self’s orientation of what is true or false, and good or bad
Beliefs
Deep-rooted ideals based from beliefs that result to right or wrong actions
Values
Predispositions consistent with values that are based from learning and thus, strongly affected by emotions
Attitudes
About making sense of an interaction or experience
Perception
About an individual’s mindset of what may happen in the future
Expectation
This refers to communication between and among people and establishes personal relationship between and among them
Interpersonal
Communication that occurs between two people
Dyadic Communication

Most casual and most informal form, involves a friendly relationship
Conversation
Concern and trust is involved, considered the deepest and most intimate form, involves a sustained relationship
Dialogue
Most purposive and most structured, involves an interviewer and an interviewee
Interview
This refers to communication that involves at least three but not more than twelve people engaging in a face-to-face interaction to achieve a desired goal
Small Group Communication
A face-to-face, immediate, and physical. It involves both verbal and nonverbal communication
Direct Communication
Involves the use of technology, can be done real time or recorded, and is virtual
Mediated communication
This type refers to communication that requires you to deliver or send the message before or in front of a group
Public
This refers to communication that takes place through television, radio, newspapers, magazines, books, billboards, internet, and other types of media
