- plants that contain transporting tubes that carry materials throughout the plant
- these plants have seeds, and true roots, stems, and leaves
taproot
a straight tapering root growing vertically downward and forming the center from which subsidiary rootlets spring
fibrous root
it is usually formed by thin, moderately branching roots growing from the stem all bunched together
epidermis
it is the outer layer/skin that covers and protects the root
root hairs
it gives the root more ways to get nutrients, water, and sunlight
xylem
vascular tissue, that only travels upwards
phloem
vascular tissue, it can transport nutrients to all parts of the plant
growth tissue
it is like extra tissue for a plant so it can grow more and become larger
root cap
it is a section of tissue at the tip of a plant root that protects the root
