Cycles in Nature Flashcards
water cycle - hydrologic cycle
evaporation: the vaporization on the surface
condensation: something that goes from a gas - liquid
precipitation: can be in the form of rain, snow, hail, ect.
run off or groundwater: water that collects or flows beneath the Earth’s surface
oxygen cycle
the cycle that describes the movement of oxygen within its three main reservoirs: the atmosphere (air), the total content of biological matter within the biosphere (the global sum of all ecosystems), and the lithosphere (Earth’s crust).
nitrogen cycle
the series of processes by which nitrogen and its compounds are interconverted in the environment and in living organisms, including nitrogen fixation and decomposition
photosynthesis
the process by which green plants and some other organisms use sunlight to synthesize foods from carbon dioxide and water
